Did you notice the blog new look? On the first of the year, I changed up the look of PolishEtc which is something I have been meaning to do for the past year. It was actually a resolution I had for New Years 2016. I still have some tweaking to do but overall I am happy that I made a change. Recommendations and critiques are always welcome, so tell me what you think of the new design.
To start off the new year, I have a super satisfying collection from KBShimmer. I know that I talk a lot about how much I love coral/orange polishes. But I first and bestest love is grey polish. Greys and other similar neutral shades are what I reach for the most when I am painting my nail for myself. Boring, I know, but they are just so chic and professional and always look good. I am especially intrigued when it is a grey or neutral shade with a little bit of something extra. Whether it is a little bit of shimmer or subtle holo glitter or a flakie, I am always enamored. I feel like KBShimmer made this collection for me. It is perfection for the 'work appropriate with a little something something' girl that I am. There are 8 neutral shades in this collection that have more of a cool toned feel to them. Greys and nudes galore!
Take Back CTRL - A purple toned dusty raisin creme. I love shades like this. It's dark but not vampy and looks great on many skin tones. The formula was beautiful just like we have grown accustomed to from KBShimmer. I am showing you two coats with Clearly On Top.
Caught on Tape - A pale dusty cool toned pink creme. This is the creme version of McTakko. I seriously love it. The formula was pretty good for a pale shade like this. I did two thicker coats with Clearly On Top but if you like thinner coats you should do three. This color is perfect for so many occasions. Work functions, weddings, church, interviews...if you want to look professional and put together, this is your shade.
Cubicle Pusher - A cool toned dark griege creme with a nice linear holo effect. Another nice, cool toned grey here. There is more purple in this polish than it is showing in my photos. The formula wa svery nice and I only needed two coats for full opacity. This is a nice darker neutral shade with a little something extra.
Fax of Life - A medium blue toned grey crelly with a nice linear holo effect. I would describe this a Windows 98 Grey. Haha! These cool toned greys are typically my favorite. They just look so sophisticated and trendy. I was still able to get this opaque in two coats but if you have longer nails than me, you might need a third.
Makin' Copies - A icy off white creme with white microflakie shimmer and linear holographic effect. I know that I am saving I love everyone one of these polishes...but I do. I love this one! It is delicate and wintry and subtly beautiful. It is silver and white at the same time. The formula is a little sheer on this one. I am showing you three coats with Clearly On Top here. LOVE!
Staple Relationship - A pewter grey polish packed with silver microflakies and holographic sparkle. The finish of this shade is very similar to the KBShimmer Birthstone Collection but it is entirely silver flakies, the flakies are very small and overall a little more opaque. It is practically a one coater. I am showing you two coats with Clearly On Top here but I was pretty happy with just one coat. Very shiny!
Supplies Party - A cool toned cream polish packed with mixed metallic microflakies and holographic sparkle. This is a true Birthstone finish and it is spectacular! The base color of this shade is more of a creme than a jelly like the other polishes with this finish in the KBShimmer line. In bright light, it looks gold. In dim light, it looks silver. In any light, it looks awesome. I am showing you two coats with Clearly On Top here.
Hint of Manilla - A nude crelly/jelly base filled with holographic microglitter and flecks. The newest addition to the KBShimmer Mega Flame line and it is a stunner! I feel like a broken record...but I love this polish. It is the PERFECT special nude polish. Mannequin hands with added sparkle. The formula was slightly sheer and I need three coats to make it fully opaque. But I really did like how it looked with just two coats because my visible nail line was showing. It looked like my own nails with extra sparkle. Such a keeper!
I feel like I am overly gushing about this collection but I am seriously in love with it. These nail polish colors are really nice for people that can't wear blues and green and crazy multi colored glitter on their nails for work. Many professional settings require neutral polish colors. But...just because it has to be neutral, doesn't mean it has to be boring. Right?! The KBShimmer Office Space collection is launching on January 4th. They carry a large stock and rarely run out of anything so have no fear about not getting a color that you want. I am having a difficult time selecting a favorite. But if you had a gun to my head, I would say Hint of Manilla. Which is your favorite? Will you be picking up any of these?

My very first thought, when I saw pictures of this collection, was: That's a collection made for Amy! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd although I am usually not the typical nude/grey/muted nail polish wearing kind of girl, I love this collection and am thinking about needing them all. <3
