I have a very special collection of polishes to share with you tonight. Ellagee Polish is turning three! To celebrate, Laura has gotten together with 9 bloggers/Instagrammers to create some beautiful collaboration shades as well as a anniversary shade. I just happen to be one of the bloggers! Squee! I am very excited to show my collab polish with you all, as well as the rest of the talented bloggers' creations. This collection will release this Wednesday and I have a little Instagram giveaway happening on my account right now. So be sure to check it out. Let's take a look at all of these fancy polishes :)
Of course, we are going to take a look at my own collaboration shade first. Say hello to "EllaMcGee"! Do you like the name? It is a mashup of both of our names. This is a medium cool toned grey jelly with a sprinkling of translucent shifting flakies and tiny holo microglitter. The flakies are chameleon flakes and there or two types, green to aqua shifting and blue to purple shifting. I love it! Grey jellies are my first love in the indie polish world. I will always have a soft place in my heart for them. I did two thicker coats for these swatches. It looks awesome with a glossy top coat and even awesomer with a matte top coat. Please let me know what you think of my shade!
Next is "Plum Foolery" which was created with Lisa from Cosmetic Sanctuary. It is a plummy purple jelly that is packed with scattered holographic shimmer and pink microflakies. I really like this shade of purple. It is warm but not too red based. The formula was great and applied smoothly. This is two coats with a glossy top coat.
This stunner is "Suger, Suger, How'd You Get So Fly" which was created in collaboration with Genevieve of suger23 on Instagram. Oh man...I totally dig this one. The base is kind of platinum, kind of champagne, kind of white gold...kind of awesome, really. There is a soft linear holographic effect as well as a light mix of blue/purple/copper ultrachrome microflakies. I don't think I have anything quite like this shade. I did two coats with a glossy top coat for these swatches.
Another favorite of mine is from Jen at The Jedi Wife. This is "Sea of Tranquility" and it is gorgeous. The base is a turquoise/sea green jelly that has an interesting mix of aqua and golden copper microflakie shimmer. The shimmer is dense with this one and it almost seems like the aqua flakies sink into the jelly and the coppery ones float on the surface. It looks hella cool. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the macro. I did two coats here and you can still see my visible nail line. You may want to do a third coat if you want a more opaque look. But I really like how it looks like plankton floating in the sea. Glossy and matte macros for ya, too.
"Pink Me!" is one of the only glitter polishes in this collection. This is the creation of Heather from I Feel Polished. She is a long time Ellagee swatcher. This is a pink and silver microglitter that you can wear as a topper or get it opaque on its own. I did one coat over Sally Hansen Water Orchid and three coats on its own for the thumb and ring finger. It's girly and sparkly!
We had to have a good crelly in the collection. Jen from My Nail Polish Obsession has collaborated with Ellagee to create "Drunk on the Good Life" which is a rosy pink crelly with a mix of ultrachrome metallic flakies in a rainbow of colors as well as a light dusting of teeny holographic glitters. Ultrachrome flakies in a crelly base are all the rage this year. The formula is spot on. I did two easy coats with a glossy top coat here.
"Sutraalescence" is a delicate shimmery topper created with Babi of ColorSutraa. The shimmery goodness in here is a mix of irridescent shimmer, clear/shifty microglitter and a pinch of spectraflair a holographic sheen. This is quite sheer, so I just used it a a topper for these swatches. I am probably going to wear this over the bare nail because that is how I roll, but most people aren't into that type of look. I am showing you this beauty over a dark base (Cirque Colors Velvet Underground) and a light base (OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls). It is very delicate.
Monica from Moni's Mani has collaborated with Ellagee to create another wonderful jelly polish for this collection. "A Little Bit of Monica" is a deep cobalt blue jelly with green, gold and pink ultrachrome metallic flakies and a sprinkle of holographic microglitter. Nomnomnom jellies! These deep blue jellies are always a crowd favorite. I did two thicker coats with a glossy top coat for this swatch. I had a matte macro but it just didn't turn out as well as I would have liked it to. My macro lens tends to blow out my skin tone with darker shades like this.
Last but certainly not least, we have "Teal the Fat Lady Sings" which was created with Ashley from Plump and Polished. This polish is so interesting! The base is a teal green jelly and the sparkle is mix of blue, green and aqua microglitter. There is an intense purple/fuchsia shimmer running throughout. Nice formula here, I did two thicker coats with a glossy top coat. There is so much sparkle going on that it distracts from and blank spaces. If you have a super white nail tip, you may want to do a third coat. Super pretty!
To round out this collection, Laura has created an anniversary shade to celebrate three years to polish making. "Three Years of Sparkle" is a raspberry pink jelly base with a nice mix of pink iridescent microflakies. It is squishy and shimmery and totally girly. The formula is easy and I did two coats with a glossy top coat here. Again, if you want a more opaque look, a third coat may be needed.
So...what do you think of all of these collaboration shades?! I think Laura did an amazing job perfecting everyone's ideas into a unique polish. There are several polishes in this collection that are totally unique to my personally collection. If you would like to win a set of my shade "EllaMcGee" and the anniversary polish "Three Years of Sparkle", head over to my Instagram page to enter. Winner will be announced on Wednesday.
