I wish I could share my beautiful Valentine's Day mani with you tonight but I can't. You see, my V-day mani was a complete and absolute failure (sort of like my love life at the moment, lol).
I started with OPI Danke Shiny Red and added some white hearts using my dotting tool. This was my first time using a dotting tool to draw hearts and it wasn't as easy as it sounded. I ended up giving up and just wearing plain red because I couldn't get the hearts even and it looked horrible!
Happy Valentine's Day! (Whether you're single or in a relationship, celebrate love for family and friends!)

Oh no! The first heart (on the left) looks good.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like that they didn't turn out perfect. Think they look cute!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it looks horrible at all! I really like the balance - how you placed each heart.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I just wish I could have gotten them even!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I suppose it's a bit more abstract. I should have said that they were cloud hearts, messy on purpose. :D
ReplyDeleteThat was the first one I did too! I had so much hope. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen I did these I made the two dots at top and then kind of dragged it down to the point (getting more polish if needed). I saw a tutorial that said make a triangle of dots & then dot to connect them, but I wouldn't bother with that! Just let the first dots dictate how large the heart will be (don't try to spread it out & make it larger).
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I did, and I think the flaw was that my white polish dried too quickly (usually a quick dry white is good for nail art because it's thick and opaque, but that was a problem here). The sad thing is I can probably do a better heart with a striping brush, the technique just isn't my favorite.
ReplyDeleteOooops! I'm not good with a dotting tool either.
